I'm a sucker for Japanese tools, too!
I have a full set of bamboo tools for the formal tea ceremony and I just love them. The hand cut whisk is particularly exquisite.
A few years back, I saw, at Takashimaya in NYC (sadly closed now), some antique gardener's tools. There was a carved wooden shovel and a set of steel shears that were so beautiful I was mezmerized. If they hadn't been the price of a mortgage payment I'd have bought them in a heartbeat.
I am not much for art for art's sake. I find much more beauty in objects. And Japanese tools are especially lovely.

Very sensuous Heath! Twirl...
Very sensuous Heath! Twirl them between your fingers...very entertaining. I think the Ginkgo leaf was an inspiration. I couldn't disagree with Olive, Japanese tools are a class unto themselves, beauty can be married to functional.
