Hi,
I would like bidding for a set of stools Jacobsen on ebay.
if I won the auction I will need to replace the shockmount.
Do you think that is the same as Series 7 chair?
thank you for your help

primary target, secondary target, target of opportunity
Hugues,
You have gone to the target of opportunity first. Your actions and thinking are not logical. Contact Fritz Hansen for best results.
primary target: Fritz Hansen
secondary target: Fritz Hansen authorized dealers
target of opportunity: this forum - people on the street

I Am not be in the trade...
Examining this forum, I learned the method of restoration shockmounts for Arne Jacobsen Series 7 Chairs and I thank the participants of this forum.
That is why I simply wished to know if the method is the same for these stools.
sorry for this inconvience

Hi
I don't know for sure, but they look like the same ones used on the chairs.

Dots, the way I see it.
Hi,
I have three "project" stools of the shorter type. I need to replace the shocks also, though these are a bit more problematic as the shocks are glued to the underside of the seat and there is no center attachment. It seems FH did several versions of connection details for these and I think mine are a second generation version. The earliest I think are attached with three threaded bolts of some sort(where the shocks are now) with the head set flush with the seat top. I don't have the earliest ones,...but judging from photos, this is what I'll assume,...until another DA poster proves otherwise.
Looking at the shocks for these, I would say the dimensions match. The earliest have slight rounded corners at the "base" of each mount. Later ones have a sharper edge. And the newest ones, received from a very helpful FH, have hollowed out areas...not sure how else to describe this. I'll add, that I can't use the latest version to replace my "project" ones because I can't see the hollowed out areas having enough surface area for glue. So, my plan is to use two broken-backed 7 Series chairs for the shocks. Leaves me one short, but I think I can reuse one or two of the originals.
BTW, I nominate the Fritz Hansen Dot stool for the "misattributed" list you guys were forming a few weeks back. First of all, the design is by Soren Hansen, not Jacobsen. Second, there are copies out there with flatter seats and an entirely different way of attaching them. Ebay sellers are constantly trying to sell them as FH orignals.

Thank you very much for this clarification.
2 stools lack the rubber mounts under the seating, I think it will cut the new shocksmounts( as in the first picture) to pass it on the metal frame.
Stools appear to be original by FH.
I hope to live up to this repair.

Cut?
I always assumed I'd be able to slide them on from the foot end of the base. You might have to remove the foot inserts- carefully, and detach the seat first.

Nevermind....
Just scrolled past your pictures, and realized I forgot about the foot rest your stools have. Are they removable at all?
