Can anyone please help with identifying these remarkable high quality mid- century textiles. They mostly appear to be hand woven. Found in a store where Jack Lenor Larsen was sold until 1980. Many thanks for any knowledge shared.

They do have a handwoven look...
They do have a handwoven look but there are machines that can mimic that look, too.
Do you know the fiber content? A burn test can be helpful. Hold a very small snip of the fabric over a candle flame with tweezers. Wool and silk smell like burning hair and will leave a crisp, black ash that crumbles easily between the fingers. Cotton, linen and rayon (viscose) leave a soft gray (sometimes black) ash that rubs away to nothing between the fingers. They smell like burning paper. Synthetics melt into hard blogs and generally smell like chemicals.
There are lots and lots of mills producing a huge variety of fabrics over the years. It's pretty hard to identify most older fabrics just by swatches. Was there any paperwork stuffed into the bolts?

Cool idea spanky, but there is a problem with the burning test given that Jack used a mixed fibre, man made and natural. In this store there is a whole range of samples perhaps 300+ so once i get these home i should know more. Thanks for the great idea about paper work stuffed in the bolts. I hope to have some more time to look around the place to find paperwork, old labels etc. Another few names that have come up on other fabric are NORTHCOL from Denmark, KINNASAND and FARMA TEXTILTRYKE. thanks spanky.
