...and kill people for oil, than to build peaceful World's Fair Pavilion for Shanghai Expo 2010, which may gain positive attention worldwide????!
get it correct
..and kill people for oil sorry that is a incorrect statement
ever since the USA invaded Iraq to take out Sadam the price of Domestic oil has gone up almost 40.00 a barrel. If we are killing people it is not for Oil The Oil reserves that the USA could have claimed were given back to the Iraq People and the goverment That statement is used by people who have no idea what the situation at hand really is NO one in the USA is in favor of our position in Irag but everyone will agree that it was stupid to get involved there but very one knows it was not for Oil as this country and England has suffered 3600 lives and our countries will not benefit by the vast oil reserves of Iraq Wrong statement on that one , As far as the Expo The USA should support it but it is truly a privet
sector situation with money coming from sponsorships
US Pavilion, Expo 2010, Shanghai
Under U.S. rules, put into place during the Bush, Sr. Administration, government funds can't be used for the construction or staffing of a U.S. Pavilion at international expositions.
Currently, private groups are asked to submit proposals to the State Department for them to win the "right" to collect the money from private industry and then hand over the pavilion, rent-free, to the U.S. Government.
This is what happened with the U.S. Pavilion in Japan in 2005... but didn't happen at Expo 2000 in Hannover (because they couldn't collect enough funds).
Additionally, the United State Congress in 2002 didn't appropriate funds for our country to maintain membership in the Bureau International des Expositions, which makes it very difficult for us to hold another world's fair in the United States. How much are the dues? $25,000/year.

For some reason in the USA expos and world fairs are top priority and that is a shame. I feel it ties us to the future and the heritage of the past but the powers to be don't seem that way.
I have been to several worlds fairs and expos when i was a kid and loved them, but i have a feeling with the Internet and mass communications that we have now,
we can see the future at any time, and that is a shame, I wish our country would take a more active stand on thses expos but the last few here in America were bust and never really did that good one was in New ORleans a total bust and Knoxville , filled with lots of corruption by the people who proposed it ,
On a another note the PGA is in my back yard. as we speak Tulsa Oklahoma is the Host of the 89th PGA at Southern Hills Country Club. they have been preparing for this event for 2 years and we our anticipating 300,000 people to see the event, featuring the worlds best golfers, This event has every street in our neighborhood re routed and the traffic is un real . The preparation for this event is unbelievable but it is nice to see what Private industry with sponsorships can do. This is a first class event and the eyes of the world are on our City .
