I have an opportunity to buy two ion chairs for $1000 ea. The owner says they were manufactured in 1962. Also available are 6 chairs "styled after the ion chair", manufactured by the American Desk Company and stamped 1974. These are $100 each. My question is, weren't Ion chairs manufactured by American Desk in the 70's? So shouldn't they be worth as much as the first two that they are asking $1000 ea. for?

In '62 the Ion Chair would have been manufactured in Seattle by Gideon Kramer's company Ion Corporation. The rights were sold in '65 per the linked article. I assume those older chairs are more valuable (I hope so, I have a set!).
