I'm always interested to see how the mechanisms work on various folding tables and chairs. Here's the underside of the Eames table - it's on ebay, so the photo will eventually disappear.
I'm not sure if I understand that 'Plana' table...
It appears that two of the top quarters fold, leaving a half-circle. Yet, the resulting 'demi lune' table couldn't be pushed up against a wall because of the metal four-star base.
Perhaps ALL of the quarters fold-- but, if so, I STILL don't get it. What's gained by the folding function of this design?
I must be missing something (?).
(I just had a Helen Keller epiphany-- does the base fold, as well?)
You must be thinking of "Flexible Love".
Like many contemporary designs-- lots of flash, very little function. It does SO much, and yet... so little.

Nils Frederking is...
certainly one of the kings of folding. It's a lovely table. I hope it is on the market, made by a one of those fine scandinavian furniture makers.
