As a bass player and design enthusiast...
Musical instruments as decor generally annoy me. To each his own certainly as I'll not pretend this is a wrong or right conversation. But I'd rather an instrument be used for the purpose for which it was created as opposed to collecting dust in a corner or on a wall.
very interesting...
When I first saw this bass it made me a little weak in the knees. I'm so used to the traditional violin shape, I found this to be a totally fresh take on a centuries old instrument, and it's quite comfortable to play. Aesthetic creeps is certainly another way to react to it. This guy was probably made in the mid to late sixties so it's surely a take on the modern movement. I know this isn't a guitar forum, but it is cool to see how design has an influence on every aspect of our world isn't it?
I just recently acquired this and it is presently leaning up against the wall of my sons bedroom, but it will be played.
Does anyone else see mans inhumanity to man when you look at this instrument? The bottom line here is design does challenge the way we react to everyday objects. Hey if we can get exited about coffee makers why not an old bass guitar?

Oh, and I can play my acoustic guitar also...and, quite enjoy it.
use everything
Lunchbox,
I agree that looking at an object is not as much fun as using an object. I truly appreciated the Fender Aloha design and purchased it an immediatedly began to take lessons. Now I can both enjoy the design and play it in a very limited fashion.
As this is a buyers market (cost plus 10) the Steinway S makes at great statement in a home and my girlfriend is able to play well. Now I can have my own after dinner concerts.
I like Leica
Spanky,
I use stock photos because they are easy. The only time I acutally use my own photos is when no others are available. I do not own a large format camera. I did purchase the Leica Series "O", but it is a film camera. I also own the Cadre mirror with the Little Romeo lamp attached. Thank you for the thought.
Wet behind the ears
Whitespike,
I just liked the idea of an aluminum guitar. I agree that it is rather garish. Hell, you were kind and I take no offense. If we all though alike the world would be very boring.
I believe I did the right thing in purchasing the piano (a floor model). I can not fail with that brand. Also I pay the minimum for everything, that includes the guitar.
I appreciate your input.
