Nice functional vintage table but the form has me wondering.
What's your take?

Before
asking about "style," wouldn't we wonder what the intended function of this piece is ? Or have you already figured that out ? "Table" doesn't quite do it for me . . .

It's kind of like a homemade version of the Wormley Dunbar magazine stand.

The three-hole
handle would be something that most home cabinetmakers could manage. It might also signify a minimalist, geometric/Bauhaus influence -- were it not for the much more prosaic foot design, which is not so much Bauhaus as Heywood Wakefield or Ethan Allen (?) . . .
Neatly made, and worthy of salvage -- and refinish ? Use and enjoy !

I could be wrong but doesn't a rod slip into the hole to hold a newspaper, to stop patrons from messing them up? I remember some sort of similar thing at school, in you know, the olden days.

There was
a sort of handle/holder, a dowel split into six parts to slip the sections of a newspaper into, with a rubber band around the top to keep it "closed." This was to organize the paper -- and keep people from running off with it ? I recall using this not too long ago, at a café.

Homemade
I'd call it Basement Bauhaus, and there is nothing wrong with that. Pretty cool.
