I think you've got it. The rocking chair is patented, and Leon Meyer had an address in Escondido CA just down the road from you. I bet if you find a Whitney Meyer in Escondido you will have found the maker and relative of Leon.

I did a little digging
and a Whitney Meyer is indeed listed in the Escondido White Pages. Unfortunately, it appears as though Leon Meyer passed away in 2003. I'd love to know more about both of them and how that rocker made it to Chicago (the seller claimed to have bought it in Denmark). Perhaps a letter is in order - what a fun puzzle!
Puzzle Pieces
Yes, a Whitney Meyer is listed as residing at the same address as Leon Meyer. It appears she owns Construction Concepts and continues to live in Escondido, CA. Perhaps you could send a letter to her business address. I will try to dig it up.
I purchased my chairs in Los Angeles, so no surprise there. The distance between Escondido and LA is approximately 90 miles. I live about 85 miles from Escondido. Road trip? Hmmmm...
I will take far better pictures of the two chairs and could forward the images to you if you'd like. Please share any information you may uncover. On my part, I may take a trip to Escondido as I am sure there are far many more collectors there. Thus, I may find out more just by sitting at a local pub. Wait, is that an excuse to drink?
Very neat research executed by all. I appreciate your input and time.
Thank you.
Random coincidence:...
Random coincidence: Construction Concepts has an address at 1051 W El Norte Pkwy, in Escondido, which seemed like a eerily familiar address to me. And it is. I've lived in that apartment complex. 10 years ago.
Best of luck. You couldn't pay me to go drinking in Escondido. But I hope you find something out about the chairs and tell us about it. I like them and wouldn't mind finding one myself.
