As you'all can see in my rant about my living room, it would be ideal to find a nice rectangular coffee table that will better relate to my sofa.

My sofa's 65" long. I would need a table at least 45" long.

I think I'd prefer a glass or marble top table, because of the durability issue with wood (one wet ring and I'd be ill!)

Finding a vintage Herman Miller or Knoll coffee is darn difficult these days. Also, some of the McCobb Calvin and Directional tables are quite nice.

Any ideas?

Thanks but I want a
rectangular table. I'm not a splayed leg fan, so the Kagan would not be on my list. If I wanted a round table, I'd continue to use my Nelson table.

THINK
outside the box use two stools as coffee tables, perhaps three. But you have alot going on in the room...Mccobb could unify the mix a bit...Maybe a rug in a darkish/dullish flat weave to anchor and define the space a bit more?

For the record,
I have always thought that coffee table were unneccesary knee busters, but when you walk into a living room, the sofa usually takes center stage, regardless where it's located, due to its size, so whatever I get to put in front should be good.
With my clutter, etc., I'm thinking of something high styled and grand.
If I could find a brass and marble McCobb Directional coffee table, I'd buy it.

Oval
This coming from a guy who once split a 3/4" glass table with his shin. (surprisingy it didnt hurt THAT much) I like oval tables - as they are friendlier on the lower legs.
An oval Saarninen in marble? I also really like the Florence Knoll coffee tables in marble - altho I would invest in a pair of shinpads.
Also, Barry, you might think of something anonymous. A beautiful danish wood table. You've already got some superstars present, maybe let the table step aside and give the limelight to the couch and end tables.

You're probably right....
even a used oval Saarinen table is bloody expensive. I don't know Flo made an oval table, but I'd do an oval if I could find one,
Some of the Danish tables ARE nice, but I'd really love a rectangular Florence Knoll or Paul McCobb. Those McCobb Directional and Calvin tables - in brass and wood and marble topped are really nifty.

There was a McCobb brass...
There was a McCobb brass bass marble top available not too long ago under $200. I'll keep an eye out...but likely gone.
