Hi, I have a pair of Coconut chairs that I am planning on selling. Anyone out there know whether these are Series I or II or an idea of which year they were produced? They are metal shell, with orange vinyl and snap under the shell.
There is no production stamp or label.
Thanks

1st generation
The 1st generation has chrome plated legs and the front legs are one piece of metal that wrap under the front.
The 2nd generation has cast aluminum legs and all three are separate pieces.
The upholstery is also totally different between the two generations. The 1st gene has the removable cover with hooks and snaps, the 2nd gen has fixed upholstery and is attached differently.
Not sure when they made the switch.

Why sell?
Why would you get rid of them? They look great in your place.
The coconut chair is one of my favorite designs. If you must sell them, you could always sell them to me.

Thanks
Pegboard - Thanks for the info.
To answer your question; I agree, I am reluctant to get rid of the pair because I'm never going to see a matched pair of vintage Coconut chairs again but we just moved and don't have room for several pieces. I've got a large Womb chair and ottoman in grey Cuddle Cloth that doesn't have a home and few other things I'll probably throw up on eBay tomorrow.
My email is quasiesque at gmail dot com if you want to contact me.
Thanks,
Rich

I would leave them where they are
I would leave the chairs where they are. In front of the T.V. The chairs probably have more intelegent things to say than that nasty television.
