I know that there is at least one poster to this forum that dislikes any historical references, but to the best of my knowledge they have never lived in any of the countries involved in this story from The Jerusalem Post regarding the IKEA founder's Nazi past.
Should it not be enough that IKEA sells "trailer trash" to the masses, this story should discourage many others from spending any money with this company.
If this is a political statement, so be it, I do not support nor endorse this form of politics or thinking.
I had to laugh at this
The BBC's article on Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad's Nazi supporting past. Under the article there's a link to related stories: 'How Ikea unites Europe'

Niceguy....
...may you never do anything for which you are ashamed or know to be wrong. It seems that forgiveness is not for you.
I certainly don't condone any form of racism (and Nazism is certainly one of the most evil forms of this) but to blame a corporation for the idiocy and wrongness of it's founder 60 years after the fact sounds a bit unrealistic to me.
Kamprad doesn't appear to be a good person, but I don't think that I will place the blame for that on all the people who make their livelihood working for IKEA.
mistakes
Olive,
There are mistakes and then there are "mistakes". I am afraid that this error of youth goes a little beyond "jay walking". Should a person (employees) decide to tie their anchor to the wrong ship then they too will suffer.
You are correct about me, I believe in "no mercy and no prisioners". A person should be willing to accept all the consequences for their actions. Forgiveness is best left to a power greater than me (some people call this power God).
Shame is for those individuals who have not taken a thorough accounting of their lives and actions and desire to live in the past.
well, shame on you for...
well, shame on you for living in the past then. Godo to see you state you understand the fundamental issue with holding a company hostage for it's history.
I suppose you hate BMW and the others that built things for the german war, and ever descendant in germany who's parents were in the military.
Sad commentary.
I will leave it to you
spacepirate1,
I will leave it to you to alert all the rich Jews in Mercedes, BMW's and Porsches in Los Angeles. Should you happen along some economically challenged (or sensible) individuals of the same religious persuasion in a Chevrolet, Chrysler, or Ford I hope you will do you best to let them know.
There are 2,000 - 2,200 (in millions) Christians in the world and 14-18 (in millions) Jews in the world. You do the math.
Selective parts of Wagner's thoughts were used for propaganda during WWII and the rest were ignored or suppressed (this sounds earily like your thinking).
My first suggestion is that you begin to read books. My second suggestion is that silence is the very best solution for stupidity. Please try both or at the very least one.
speak for yourself
lind2020,
The industry you mention, changed manufacturing directions (from planes to cars), admitted their complicity, and made reparations. A large difference exists between taking responsibility and expressing denial while evading the issue.
If I hate someone or something they win and I lose. Please speak for yourself when you write and do your best to avoid ignorance.
Read more and speak (write) less.
niceguy,I have no idea what...
niceguy,
I have no idea what your point was, it seems you agreed with everything I said. It also sounds like you're Jewish and playing out the whole "persecuted victim" stereotype. Get over it, life is so much more enjoyable without a chip on your shoulder. I also suggest you stop reading the zionist propaganda the Jerusalem Post calls news.
spacepirate1
I guess you ...
spacepirate1
I guess you have never heard " We will forgive but never forget".
I thank niceguy for bringing attention to Ikeas past.
Everyone knows the story of BMW ,Mercedes and other German war companies, some people choose not to be part of the products made by them but that has to be the choice they make. not someone telling them what to do.

Time wounds all heels. I know religous Jews who own Krups appliances; if you look closely at the photos of the death ovens, they were mostly made by Krups.
Similarly, I know that there's some super anti-drug folks who use Bayer Asprin, even though "Heroin" was a registered Bayer product back in the early 1900's!
