It's made from 12 bent pieces of translucent plastic; there's a larger version made from 16 or 20, and I've seen it in orange as well as white.

Any idea who makes it or where I can buy another one (or even what it's called, so I can search for it efficiently on Ebay)?

Thanks.

Hi
My girlfriend has one. She thought they were sold at the Danish modern store called "Workbench" back in the 70s and 80s. I think it was probably an imported piece. They fade yellow and break easy. I will look at hers again and report back later.

There
is lots of deadstock of these lampshades knocking around.
They were, apparently, designed by Lars Schioler in Denmark in the 1970's.
eBay auction links are too long for the link box here, but if you search item number 270424002143 you'll find somebody thas has some in the UK

Thanks, Robert
I have one and I love it but both of the observations above are correct. Mine has yellowed and the tips are very fragile. Mine is actually cracked/broken in two places. Still, it looks great when lit and has a much better form and presence than the later IKEA versions. I have had it about 2 years and moved it from Florida to South Carolina to Switzerland which is how it acquired its dings. Anyway, glad to know who designed it and when.

Make sure you get these in a colour you can tolerate. My flatmate once stuck this on his lightbulb, it was orange, but even so it gave the entire room a sordid tint, like it was a brothel or something.
