HI am new to this i have inherited some chairs and table but have had no luck in identifying the designer or maker despite several hours of searching, they have possibly been recovered and seem to be made of ash or elm possibly, any help or directions to websites that can help me very much appreciated also any info on restoration as appear to be water marked in areas, once again thanks in advance for any assistance, Shelley.

No
No idea at all, in my 25 years of dealing in furniture, I've only seen the two I had, and yours
I wish I'd made a note of the maker, but not even sure I have a picture of the chairs
I think they are probably elm

Great chairs
Hi Shelly
In my modest oppinion the chairs you have there may be
by knud Færch for Slagelse furniture
1956 - 1960
I have in the past had a similar chair but without the Y supporting the back and they were clearly marked with Slagelse
If you look under the seat and can see a faint circle stamp which has what looks like a flag in the top half then they are slagelse.
Great chair and worth looking after.
The chair is made from oak and maybe teak just very badly faded.
The only way to determine this would be to have a very close look at the grain and wood.
The fabric looks very much like one used alot on other danish items and has been supplied from KVADRAT for many years. It is called hallingdal.

NANNA DITZEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now your just being silly
Nanna is hugely documented and a lady who is easy to track designwise so lets not mix one designer with the other on the whimsical feeling that "Such and such an edge looks like".
Heres a link to a slagelse chair

To my
mind there are too many differences between the chairs shown to encourage an assumption of common parentage. Note that the frame construction is completely different -- though the arm/back rail bears some similarity.
Both chairs are interesting and handsome, I think.
