Thank you very much, how did you find out? Did you have reference books and looked up the design, or do you have a knack for deciphering poor print?!
I couldn't find anything on the web about Svend & Madsen, is there any further reading you know of? What do you think I should value the table at - some of their desks seem to go for a fair mount...

Axel Bender Madsen (1916-2000) qualified as a cabinet maker in 1936 and graduated from Kunsthåndværkerskolen in 1940. He went on to Kunstakademiets Møbelskole and worked for Kaare Klint and Arne Jacobsen, respectively, from 1940-1943. He was also employed in FDB's architect department as Børge Mogensen's assistant but from 1947 he established his own design studied together with Ejnar Larsen (1917-1987).
Ejnar Larsen and Bender Madsen were classmates at Kunsthåndværkerskolens Møbelskole from where Ejnar Larsen graduated in 1940. He then worked for master cabinet maker Jacob Kjær and architects Peter Koch, Mogens Koch and Palle Suenson. Ejnar Larsen also served as Statens inventarinspektør, as Hofinventarinspektør and assistant secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Building.
When master cabinet maker Willy Beck established his own business in 1946, he asked Ejnar Larsen and A. Bender Madsen to design for him. This was the beginning of a fruitful collaboration that lasted for more than 25 years and Beck was a skillful cabinet maker with a big, exclusive business in Classensgade furnished by the two architects.

Svend AAge Madsen according to decopedia, rather than Svend &Madsen. I found the name by following the advice from another thread which was to access Lauritz.com in Danish rather than in English. The challenge to establish the name was so tempting, it just had to be done!

Classic danish piece from the 50s
As far as I can see it's a classic design from the 50s. It dosn't look like a Wegner or Kjaerholm and it's probably one of many palisander(Rosewood) furnitures that was massproduced at that time, maninly at Rud. Rasmussen.

Dan, the only reason I can read it is because for 20 years I was a graffiti artist and also a calligraphy artist. I've got a knack for deciphering typography. Been that way since I was a kid. I find really great art all the time at local auctions simply because auctioneers can't read signatures for some reason, lol. I had to rise to the challenge on this one.
