First of all I just like the way this display off center. I guess I am a little off center too. This has no makers mark. The original owner had a pair of these and said they purchased new soon after they were married in 1958. I was unsure the two drawers on the top piece were supposed to be different color each cabinet had one dark and one lighter drawer the owners said they were meant to be like this. On the bottom of one of the upper drawers and on the bottom of the silver ware drawer behind the bottom door is hand written Modern Int and some numbers. Any idea who made it?
Thanks, Bryan
Sorry do not have ability to take more pics no, but like I said the original owners had two of these and the bottom of the drawers (one each) are marked the same underneath. Another weird fact is that the backs of both pieces are real dark pretty much black and I believe that is original also. Maybe the black back will help ID. I am out of town right now and will not be back until Sunday night. I am pretty confident (even though the I was a little concerned at first about the differences in the front finishes) because the side view the wood matches. If that makes sense
Two pieces, right? When you move the hutch, is there a dark rectangle underneath it? The pulls appear like they could match, and possibly the top is just very sun faded. It's a really nice cabinet, but... I am not sure what it is about the picture that is throwing me off. The plates, or the lens distortion... something is weird about it. Wish I could help ID at the moment, sorry.
I am almost positive this is an original set. Really the only difference is the doors on the bottom the top of the bottom piece and the sides are the same wood on both pieces, the hardware is the same, the backs are finished the same, and they have the same hand written notes on top and bottom.
