The pieces you bought do indeed look like hotel furniture and nothing like Pearsall. Hotel furniture made for the big chains is mostly sturdy, low-maintenance, and inexpensive. It is on par with instutitional stuff. I hope you didn't pay much!
The photo you found also looks like something one might also find in a hotel, or maybe the waiting room of a dentist or doctor. As for "Similar to the Martin Borenstein or George Nelson modular seating units but with a much nicer frame" (the seller's description, not yours) that's debatable (I'm being polite).
