I have a little quest to see if any more information can be cained about this woderful secretair / writing bureau.

Made entirely of solid mahogany, Flip top reveal sectional storage and dovetail drawers.
CUBAN mahogany on the writing area.

Tottaly unmarked but of astonishing quality.
All brass screw lined up to each other

Flawless.

I feel this is a aprentice master piece / graduation piece but not sure.

Let the challenge begin

I wish I could help, after you helping me, unfortunately I've started waking up at 4am feeling very frightened, and I don't even have any money, no losses other than my furniture probably just all dropping in value.
Years ago I read a short post apocalyptic sci fi story where people were bartering goods for food, a chap brought in a Warhol, you can guess what he got for it 🙂
Piece looks more Klint than Wanscher. Mmmmm, if you don't know who would?

No drop in value
Heath my friend no need to lay awake worrying about values dropping as the opposite is the case.
In time of uncertainty and woes the only sure bet is GOLD, ANTIQUES and CASH and as LArs Ulrich from Metallica is selling his $12.000.000 painting at christies soon there is surely no need to have sleepless nights.
My stash is getting bigger of excellent designs so night night
sweet dreams
Simon

Weird stretcher
Simon, don't you think that is rather an odd placement of that front stretcher on that desk? It seems that it was not designed to have a chair in front at all.
Also, I think those brass keyhole inserts look British, like Maitland-Smith or Theodore Alexander-ish.

Simon
hasn't given the dimensions, but this looks like a stand-up desk to me. (Yes, at one time people were willing to stand to work !)
Flawless, perhaps; what's that lighter-colored spot on a left-hand drawer front ? Not a typical feature of mahogany grain, surely. . .

SDR's comment...
...on stand up desks reminded me of a picture in Dr. Mandel's manifesto like study on the seated position. In the introduction he shows a whole Kobenhavn bank office with standing room only.
This desk, the way it is made etc. indicate to me that it is a generic piece of office equipment of that period (prior to office chairs)
