That leaf is solid teak through and through
is it not? Solid teak would be surprising for a Vodder piece.
And is that a bullet edge I am seeing? Wouldn't a Vodder be flat on top and curved on the bottom, like the photo below.
Is it marked? (What I am thinking of would not be marked).
Post a photo of the table, and a detail shot of the corner, and I will tell you what I know.
Pictures
Thanks for the compliment! I sold the Gunni Omann already. Here are pictures of the Danish teak drop leaf table. I had just assumed Arne Vodder because the design is very similar and at the same house I picked up an Arne Vodder credenza. Here are some pictures- it is bullet nosed. Also, it is solid teak and the original receipt I have verifies that. What designer were you thinking? Perhaps I can look it up and match it. Hopefully whoever it is, its better than Vodder? 😉 Thanks so much!
Johannes Aasbjerg is the designer
He designed and produced his own furniture. The company name is unusual: Excellent Furniture Company. I suspect that there may be a danish name as well, but I don't know it.
His specialty was solid teak furniture, which is quite rare in danish tables and case pieces. And phenomenally well built.
There are a number of signature characteristics:
solid teak,
dovetailed corners on case pieces,
bullet edges,
recessed drawer pulls that look similar to vodder's bowtie drawer fronts, but are linear instead of curved.
unmarked
ribbed tambour that looks like the tambour on hvidt pieces
you might find stamped letters on hidden surfaces (the inside edges of the leaves, but possibly not since they would be exposed when down.)
Many of Aasbjerg's pieces are confused for Hvidt/Mølgaard or Vodder
Unfortunately there is only one publicly known printed reference to his work: the illums bolighus 1964 (5?) catalog has a solid teak coffee table of his which is not hard to find out on the Internet.
There is also a similar table of his on 1stdibs right now. Image and link below. And you will be able to find a few of his pieces on the Internet. There was a sideboard on ebay listed by a seller in Houston, and he claimed to have sold another like it with a catalog.
I would like to have a photo of the table to add to the dossier I have been compiling. Does the receipt mention a date of purchase? (I know very little about the precise dates of his work, so your receipt might add substantially to the information I know).

Wow, you're good.
Thank you so much for this great info. The original receipts I have are from Excellent Furniture Company and are dated April 22, 1965. I thought Excellent Furn Company was just an importer because on the same receipt was an Arne Vodder stereo cabinet, Erik Buck chairs, and the Gunni Omann desk. It turns out the credenza I picked up assuming it was Arne Vodder is actually by Johannes Aasbjerg. It has the dove-tail end casing and is really quite beautiful. How do you think the value compares to Vodder? Should I be dissapointed, excited? I plan to sart the credenza out at $49.99 on eBay and let the market decide the value. My only worry is that it will get lost on eBay because it doesn't have a designer name everyone recognizes. Please let me know your thoughts. I greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
