see a photo of somebody sitting on that thing. I just don't believe it's structural . . .

Trussed ham
From an artistic POV the blown up trad cane pattern is kinda fun. Don't think it would be terribly comfortable without cushioning which would ruin the site lines and an ample bare arse would look like trussed ham from behind.

The hexagon weave is
begging to be interwoven with scraps of bright yarn, torn strips of old (brightly colored) pants, bits of birthday ribbon, manatee whiskers, and whatnot. Aunt Mark, I'm obviously looking at you.

Actually
It looks more like they took an arm shell design and just streeeeetched it out, rather than using the LCA settee. The LCA has a higher back. They probably weren't even aware of the LCA or the settee.
