Nice kitchen, Jesgord-
I agree about stainless counter-tops-- great in theory, not so great to use. I have a stainless-topped cart in my kitchen, surface always looks like hell unless kept scrupulously clean and wiped just so.
Oops, guess I only irritated Heath further by posting a 1956 kitchen video. True, nostalgia can be hateful & cloying; on the other hand, the mid-twentieth century was arguably the golden age of design.

W-H-C: You were right, the cabinets are white high-gloss (I think they called it foil finish), with stainless steel pulls. The backsplash is white subway tiles and the counters are Caesarstone, which have been great.
Jesgord - That is a handsome kitchen!
Foil is
a thickish plastic film heat-and-vacuum stretched over a wood-product panel. Very nice looking and permanent, easy to clean.
Heath, I was thinking of this sort of thing:

Gene's kitchen is lovely. Probably my choice if i needed to start over.
May make a mess of it the way i cook. I do like Kerf if it fit the
architecture. I wanted to replace my counters to slate but my kitchen is
dark as it is. I did think the galley style would be trouble, but it has
been efficient and easy to keep clean. A full wall pantry behind the
breakfast table, 4 sliding doors, has kept all the counters clear of any
appliance. Knives on magnet bars. Amazing little treehouse of a home
for '62. The kitchen is centrally located with 4 entrances, hall to all
the bedrooms runs behind this side of the galley.
