HAHAHHAHA, yeah thats about it smartarse 🙂 Believe it or not I'm actually making garlic fondue and herbed dipping bread right now, from scratch in Lax pots of course...my kitchen might not be pretty but I use it.
After that and half a bottle of wine I'm hopping into bed with Miss Smilla and her Feelings For Snow.
My kind of kitchen.
Heh-heh . . .
Mark found a site on the Web that's a gem -- can't remember what it's called. (My mom's kitchen seems a special exception, which I love -- thanks !) And I think Mark's own kitchen is lovely and shouldn't be touched until the house falls down. But I can understand restlessness.
No replacement, no "second guess" is ever as good as the first course -- it seems to me.
Believe me, you don't want to see my kitchen. I did make a wall-hung dish-drying rack when I moved in 25 years ago -- but only because a normal counter rack would have taken up all (!) of the counter space. It's minimalism personified -- as is my complement of cooking utensils: one nine-inch cast iron skillet that I bought c. 1966; one two-quart stainless saucepan from a Navy vessel; a black enameled colander, and a lid ditto that fits the skillet; and a steamer I found on the street last year but use seldom. Simple. No electric appliances, no microwave. An old gas stove that works fine. Needless to say, I eat simply. Ah, the life of the bachelor monk . . .
For the record, I think Patricio's kitchen is fine in its way. MCM ? Of course not. Its owner explained how it came to be, and that's all we need to know. Design is the suiting of the result to the need and to the means.
