Dear Coolwater...
Allow me to answer on this thread and not on the other one where you asked the same question as in this original post. I think that the positive answer to your question of authenticity can only be based on the story you have mentioned earlier. If that story is accurate, I do not see how it could be anything but an original.
s to the value, the two that wright put on auction and ended at $16.000 are Seagram building originals and I think that for anybody that collects that origin has a lot of meaning. It ties Mies v.d.Rohe with the Montreal Bromfman family and the Seagram building story. I think that it would be difficult to beat that price of $ 8.000 per piece as part of a pair (some increase in value there to) Again without pictures it is difficult to say. Your assumption that it might even be some prototypes is unlikely. The chairs had been made before and it is unlikely that Mies would have been hesitant about certain details.

What might be determined by me taking the measurments of the "Tugendhat Chairs"....?
"HEATH" posted a reply in asking me to get my ruler or tape measure out...should I be looking for a specific measurement for a specific region of the chair? Or am I simply looking for a measurement that might show a "Even or whole number" measurment in "INCHES" or "CENTIMETERS"? Thanks for your help, questions and comments. Paul

"Tugendhat Lounge Armchairs"...how many known "Prototypes" exist today?
Okay, I have confirmed these two tugendhat armchairs are from post 1950 but before 1967 and what might possibly be the last known commission for "Tugendhat Chairs" to exist, but more importantly metal work Mies personally approved of and possibly supervised during construction. These chairs are MUCH different in many ways such as dimension by frame width, frame style or finish (without "Bull nose" end), cushion construction such as stitching(double and triple), zipper size, seat cushion and backrest design as well overall cushion dimention and form as compared to a verified vintage "Tugendhat" Knoll reproduction chair (chrome plated steel or polished solid steel)...as this holds true today considering the chairs I have compared them to thus far. I actually compared my two chairs with two "Vintage Knoll" reproductions. I have been looking and researching anything I can find for to learn the actual dimentions of the ORIGINAL "Tugendhat" chairs from Brno or the Tugendhat home. If these are what I think they are, as the only "Prototypes" known to exist in America or otherwise, how important are they? If I was a gambling man I might put the house on it....that they are EXTREMEMLY important indeed. I don't think these chairs belong to any one person privately if they prove out to be what I believe them to be. I imagine them in a Museum. Comments please.... sorry I am recently haviing problems with my E-"Mailbox" account so I had to sign on as a different and new user name.
