at the end of September for a couple of weeks. I will be going with my lovely lady, and it will be our first visit there.

We are design addicts. Can anyone suggest places to see, eat, and drink, that design addicts in particular would enjoy?

I just came back from...
I just came back from Paris...
Paris is super expensive when it comes to vintage design, but great if you want to see a lot of Prouvé, Perriand, Mategot & Mouille designs that are otherwise hard to come by. A good place to start is the Patric Seguin gallery, close to Bastille.

Then there's numerous antiques & design dealers who carry French, Italian & other European stuff as well as Eames & Nelson located in the area on the south bank of Seine, just opposite from the Louvre.
La Galerie Moderne is a small store on Rue Mazarine concentrating on Eames/Nelson & Italian lighting. There's a few other good places nearby and there is usually a design guide with a map of the locations available for free in most of the shops...

Otherwise, I recommend checking the flea-markets around Paris on sundays. Last sunday I saw a Mategot table that had just sold for 100 EUR. Also missed 3 early Aalto stools for 60 EUR. -Not my day...

things to see
take the train to see Chartres cathedral.
'But that's just an old gothic cathedral, what's it got to do with design?'
It's a unique and splendid example of the peak in modern engineering and design, Europe circa 1200. It also still has a big chunk (the front facade nave and one tower) of the rare transitional style between romanesque and gothic c1100. When built it was the most technologically/aesthetically advanced architecture/engineering in Europe coming out of the dark ages. You'll look at it in a whole new way.

Do you guys know of...
Any nice nice places to wine and dine that designaddicts would enjoy?
Doesn't necessarily have to be modernist, but aesthetically pleasing, indoors or outdoors.

left bank along the Sien
Left Bank along the Sien lots of trendy places all over Paris.
To me and I report to me only Paris is broken up like NYC differnt areas different flavor that all are great . But i will say i found the French not to friendly to me (American ) i had heard that before i was going but was convinced once i got there .
Don't waste time going for the Fancy Novelle cusine cause you will leave hungry , but you cannot knock the food , the French do like there sauce on every thing, I have never really considered the French as much into the Modern movement as other countries .
My favorit place in all of Europe is
Prague in the Chec Republic great place, great city, great people, great food, great price and one hell of a place to learn about Architecture They have it all.
