I was at Herman Miller today and i picked up a hand out they gave me to the trade and in it, it included some wonderful ads they used Decades ago 1952
one is " Americas Most famous modern chair" can now be yours for only $25.00 that is the DCM DCW LCM LCW this ad ran in House beautiful, Brides magazine, Better homes and gardens.

another ran from Finger Furniture in Houston from 1948 for the the Nelson slatted Bench table for $48.00
But my favorite was from Herman Miller
BEWARE of IMITATIONS enjoy the comfort of the Real Thing. and that was in 1963,
so even back then the company was aware other manufactures were trying to rip them off, one thing for sure it was not the Chinese, as they were to busy studying in their little red Mao books and could not be bothered.

another ad I saw from 19...
another ad I saw from 1958 was the Nelson coconut chair and ottoman but it was not called the Coconut it was advertised as a easy chair and ottoman and called molded units of Airfoam. and says how they directly applied to pre shaped plastic shells .
It was co opted with GoodYear who made the Airfoam for the insides.

LRF Any chance you might post them up here"
Would it be too much trouble to post one up here? Old ads are a great way to travel back in time, please share a couple. Thanks.

Nice
Herman Miller has really put a lot of great history on their website. I think they are the only ones to do it.

Big Television Man
I am in my mid 50's and i say the same thing all the time. My family was not in to modern back in the 50's
We always heard it was the Architects, and Doctors that like that stuff,
But it was a kinder, gentler, world ,back then here in American.
I can not speak for Europe that was in throes of a rebuilding program after the war, but they were good times and easy times,
