terryT, you can add another photo
to an existing thread instead of starting a new one. It's better to just keep it all in one place, that way the replies all go with it. You can also click the EDIT link and fix the original photo or anything else if necessary. (Though people frown on editing actual content.)
It's not Kofod-Larsen. He did do a chair similar to this one but his did not have exposed fasteners on the frame. This is probably a knockoff of his chair and it might not have any designer's name attached to it.
Westnofa?
I have a similar chair with a lower back. I believe it was by Westnofa....the label was lost when I had it reupholstered.
I found an old link to a similar chair....

Westnova?
Thanks so much pirx pilot. This is the closest design to my chair that I have seen yet. I do believe that you are correct as it is almost identical in every way except for the back height.
thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me out.
Will research Westnova more.
The chair does have whats left of a partial metal tag that appears to have the letter M which could be the W.
Cheers!
My research tells me a few things....
My "new" MCM chair was possibly distributed by Westnofa, however I am not able to determine who the actual designer was even though the image Pirx Pilot provided was pretty much spot on. I realise that some pieces haven't got the pedigree that we would hope for, but I plan on loving it and using it anyway!
If anyone else could help me with any knowledge about the designer/maker I would be most appreciative!
Pegboard Modern?????
The low-back version of the...
The low-back version of the chair, identified in this thread as being by Westnofa, was erroneously identified as the "Elizabeth" chair by Ib Kofod Larsen in the 2002 book "Designed for Life - Scandinavian Modern Furnishings 1930-1970". So, one might still run into attributions based on that source, although it is not correct.
it's a nice chair
even without the attribution to Kofod-L.
When you say it doesn't look like teak, maybe it could be cherry?
A lot of these 'danish' inspired designs were executed in fruitwoods.
It's definitly scandinavian in my opinion, quality is to high and the design to well-executed. Your upholstery seems very fresh to.
How much did you pay?
Sculptural Mystery Chair
I paid $400.00 for the chair and love it even though it might not have the pedigree I would hope for --however it has wonderful lines and is in my opinion very fine.
The upholstery is not original, but whomever recovered it did a wonderful job.
Still trying to research the maker/designer.
thanks!

Chair appears to be by Peter Wessel, Norway (see linked url below.)

Thanks TCHP!
I can't thank you enough for your efforts in assisting me in finding out who produced my lovely chair. I'll look into his bio and see if I can find anything else out about him and his products.
My chair is the higher back version of the pictured Peter Wessel design and I believe the head rest may have been added by the upholsterer. I do have a partial tag underneath the chair and the logo is the same!
I thought that since the post was old that I was never going to know to whom I would be able attribute the piece to!
Thank you so much!!!!!

Unfortunately for the poster "iamkirk", who has the lowback version of your chair, the most deserving recipient for your thanks may be his neighbor's dog, for initiating his post in the first place. I too have long been curious who made this chair, so it is nice your partial label also matches, as it makes the ID pretty certain.
