A couple other members posted images of a small rod table with a chrome plated wire-rod base in the recent acquisition threads a while ago. At the time, I suggested that I thought it might be a Hugh Acton design.
We recently got one of these same tables so I decided to reach out to Mr. Acton to confirm my attribution. He was kind enough to reply and said that yes, that is one of his designs. It was offered with a top either painted white or with a wood veneer.
It's a wonderful little table, visually light with a scale that would be perfect next to a low easy chair like an Eames LCM or a Kjaerholm PK22.
I just thought the folks who have one of these tables would be interested in knowing who created the design.
Acton Planters
Hugh's a longtime friend of the family. The base is possibly part of a 2-piece Acton Planter set, early to mid-1960s which originally included an aluminum bowl, very handsome -- but easy to dent. My parents converted their stand into a coffee table much like what you see here. I never knew the tabletops were an OEM offering... http://www.hughacton.com/
