...is the Eames softpad chaise? I've been watching a certain auction site for several years now and they almost never come up for sale. Are they just too expensive to buy in the first place, hence few around, or do owners just never want to sell them?

I'm in Australia, where the likelihood of finding one vintage (or used) is virtually non-existent!

Hands up if you know someone who has one. And are they good to lie on?

I found one once. It's in a dealer's shop right now. I thought it was comfortable but I would not want to spend a long time on it. Because it does not have arms, it might be easy to fall off while asleep. That being said, I still think it's a fun piece of furniture.

I don't know if you will ever find one that is for sale in Australia but here is a link to one that is coming up for auction thru liveauctioneers.com. The Auction House putting it up for sale is located in Colonge, Germany.
