A little decision-making help, please?

Getting ready to order the standard maple George Nelson bench.

Plan is to park it just inside the front door, on a slate floor, in a small foyer that measures 70 by 112 inches. Ceiling is 8 feet. There's a fair amount of natural light in the space, and one of the long walls is only waist-high, so it's not too claustrophobic.

The question: should we get the 72-inch or the 60-inch bench?

Rough cardboard mockups show that both sizes allow clearance for the door to swing and for guests to pass.

Any other considerations that could help us break the tie?

Thanks in advance for suggestions, rules-of-thumb, other clues.

I vote 72"
If the 72" bench fits, I would go with that to fill up the space, since it will be entirely functional in the entry way. Also, I like the look of the 72" bench with its three sections of slats rather than two.

Only other
question would be, do you see a need for "air" around the bench -- and would you want to leave room for something else in the future, like a coat tree or a plant.
I like the triple-base -- and more horizontal extension is always desirable, to my eye.
