Sad to say
there is no mark or label on the Carl Hansen chairs. I'd think they would, seeing as there are so many bad copies being marketed.
You really have to have seen one to know one (it helps to have touched it also). As with most things, it's the details that will tell you the real one from a fake. I can tell you the real one weighs a ton. Not really 2000 pounds, but a lot. It is a very substantial piece.
The CH445 is a fantastic design and is on par with the papa bear for comfort. The construction has features that are similar to the Ox chair (a one-piece base, flat circular feet and little cones that serve as a junction between the base and the body of the chair). If it upholstered in leather, there is a rectangular vent on the bottom to allow the foam to breath.
If you have photos to post, I might be able to help you confirm Carl Hansen production.
Thanks for the reply....
Thanks for the reply. Actually I know it's real, I bough 2 months ago from a friend who got it from Carl Hansen. Now, I just want to sell it and I'm sure people will want to see the authentication.

Ask your friend
for a copy of the receipt from when he bought it (or any associated paperwork) if you think people will question the authenticity. I think that it's pretty obvious which is real when you see them side by side, but I know that people can be skeptical.
I do have to ask, why are you letting it go? It's a brilliant design, supremely comfortable and from your photo it looks like a nice neutral color that would work in pretty much any interior. Your friend let it go, now 2 months later you are giving it up?
Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I would bring this one back from the dead so everything is together..
An online listing for a Wegner CH-445 caught my eye, but having nevwer seen one in person I was trying to figure out if its authentic or not and what to look for.
I was a little bored this weekend and flipping back and forth between the Carl Hansen version and this one, and a few things stick out:
-Seat cushion. (Could easily be an addition)
-Shape of armrest inserts is more rounded, where CH are flat/angular on top.
-It appears poorly upholstered (folds in armrest)
That being said.. there is the AP Stolen version, but from what I read it is quite rare. This chair certainly shows more wear consistent with an older manuf. date and the armrest inserts are certainly more rounded than CH.. could it be?
Or have I spent too much time looking back and forth and its just a replica? I can try to scour the sellers site for some extra pictures.
