Just curious how you guys are taking care of your rosewood chairs? I have a 45-year old chair and it's seen it's share of sun, so it's a little faded in spots. The wood is a little dry in places as well. How do you guys take care of the wood?
The shock mounts, btw, never did fail, but after my hefty friend sat in it and kept rocking backwards in it (a habit of his), it started making that scary creaking sound, so I had the shock mounts replaced before they failed, leaving me on sprawled on the floor with my martini splashed all over my smoking jacket.

Gunstock oil
Used to be that Herman Miller would give customers who bought a new 670 a small jar of gunstock oil to apply to the rosewood shells. There was no clear coat, just an oil finish.
I have used gunstock oil as well as regular lemon or orange oil. The gunstock oil is more viscous, but all three are pretty good. If there is significant fading you may need to take it to a professional who can tone the wood and bring back the color.
I appreciate the quick...
I appreciate the quick answer (sorry for my late response). I have some lemon oil, so I'll give that a go.
Curious about retoning the wood. Mine does, in fact, have some fading on one side (the side that faced the window for many years, I suspect). What is involved in re-toning the wood?
