I dont see alot of people talking about Usm haller. Is it cause its so common on banks and financial firms that we dont consider it in our homes? I dont get it. Personally I love this stuff and find it a pity that its so expensive. The possibilities are endless and the furniture itself is timeless in its simplicity.

I love it. I have seen it,...
I love it. I have seen it, but I never knew what it was. Perhaps it has more to do with their advertising techniques ... like how many people think Herman Miller is just office stuff these days, when they used to advertise and design heavily to the domestic environment.

well what can you say about...
well what can you say about this company. its a swiss design firm i guess that basically strives of this series (haller). the furniture is literally EVERYWHERE. they almost have a monopoly in high end offices. The system is modular and can be made to fit all needs. And if you are into that clean classic look, then they are unbeatable in how you can modify them to any room and mood. Check out the site some more to get to know em' a little better...
Only problem is that its pretty expensive stuff!
Im surprised you havent seen this stuff yet...

USM homie
Here wego.. I could consider myself almost a USM expert when I think how many times I assembled USM. I'm Swiss and USM is Swiss as well. Manufactured very well and totally worth the price. I remember got my first little sideboard back in the days. Meanwhile I have it at home, in our office and as well in our action sport shop. Means heavy duty use for more then 12 years and it still looks good. The great thing about it is that you're able to combine it with almost everything. it's very clean in it's structure and always a pleasure to watch. I could sell it any time almost at it's price. It's true that USM is a big supplier for office spaces. Very functional and you won't feel bored to look at it after a while. Their headquater and production is just 5 minutes from where I live. USM has very good response from the ones who make the investement. USM is distributed worldwide. Great day Roger

My view: I like this stuff...
My view: I like this stuff quite a bit, but I can very much understand why it's not very popular for home use. It is:
(1) Very, very expensive, and
(2) Quite "cold" for home use (all metal & stainless steel).

i am trying to find a source...
i am trying to find a source to get cheaper usm. I bought a "korpus" from usm and paid quite a bit for it.
Its expensive for a student like me but i consider them one time purchases that will last me years.
I am looking for another sideboard type usm and basically just scowling around to find a price that i can afford. I love this furniture though.
absolutely LOVE it.

I'm glad
to hear that it's well made -- and it's obvious that the solution is practical and worthy -- but I just don't care to look at it. The obsessive outlining in polished tube of every single part is robotic and deadly -- to me.
Different strokes for different folks ?

true...
different strokes...
true...
different strokes i guess.. But the cool thing i feel about usm, is its not dominant if you dont know about it. Like it blends into anyroom. and just seems to fit. Which you cant say for alot of design peaces.
So depending on the person looking at the furniture, usm can go from nonexistant to being the focus of a room. which i feel is special for any design furniture...

Yeah, that
sounds good.
Maybe they could offer the metal frames in different finishes -- powder-coated white, red, charcoal, black ?

oh man, that is a great...
oh man, that is a great idea...
I like the idea of a charcoal black frame with white walls.. hmmm....
@ ldf; that really really surprises me, cause in swiss design magazines its hard to find one that doesnt have a usm piece in it! : - )
which ones do you subscribe to? any recommendations? I saw a frame a while back in a mag store but it was selling for something like 30 francs!!!! (20 Euro)
