Hello...
I'm new to the site - this is my first post. Thanks in advance for any information you are able to provide on this Hovmand-Olsen furniture.
I purchased 2 chairs at a tag/yard sale recently. They were in incredibly dirty condition, but the bones were great. For the price, I didn't even look at the chairs, try to find a maker, etc... just knew that they appeared to be well made chairs with a great shape, and that once cleaned I should be able to resell them to make a few extra dollars.
I was thrilled when I got them home and started to clean them. I flipped them over to find a Hovmand-Olsen tag attached to the bottom. Despite the grime, the chairs are in very nice condition!
I have searched the web looking for information on the tag, the year, the model of these chairs, etc. I've seen a lot of chairs, advertisements, and other furniture, but have not seen this particular chair. I've seen very similar, but these arms a bit different than the other chairs I've seen. The great news is in my search, I found this site!
Any information you could provide on this pair of chairs, type of chairs, approximate year, and anything else helpful would be wonderful. I'm not sure if these are dining chairs or not because they are rather large.

There seems to be a few variations of that basic Hovmand Olsen arm chair design. Here is a very similar one, except the side rails are different (perhaps other details as well).

I've found that quite a few HO designs have difficult-to-trace histories. The Danish Furniture Index is another good resource in general, but their current HO listings are slim.
Nice chairs. I'd keep those and sell something else.
