Has anyone noticed the furniture on the House TV show on Fox Tuesday nights? The set designer must be very familar with mid-century modern stuff, because House's favorite chair is the classic Eames lounge chair with ottoman with what appears to be a fabric covering, rather than leather. Also noticed an Eames DCM chair being used as a desk chair, and a few weeks ago noticed a George Nelson bubble lamp hanging from the ceiling in his office.

Midcentury furnishings are...
Midcentury furnishings are very trendy these days for television. It makes me wonder why it hasn't had a stronger impact on the public's tastes for their own homes. Perhaps it has a negative effect ... making people feel that modern furnishings are reserved for television sets, institutions, and offices rather than for residences.

good point whitespike
I wonder also, when they see these furnishings, maybe the pieces work so well in these interiors that they kind of dissapear and don't turn off the viewer due to particular tastes. In otherwords, the television studios purposely pick out modern furniture because in that setting it becomes innocuous, much in the same way one wears a navy suit, white shirt, and red or blue tie to an interview - to look as neutral (in the professional business sense) as possible.

my point is-
instead of turning more consumers onto the furniture - it goes unnoticed.

Isn't that
a hospital show ? Would it be thought that modern furnishings would be taken for granted in that setting ? How many waiting rooms have we seen that are furnished in Shaker or French Provincial ?
Or are these modern pieces seen elsewhere on the show. . .?

House TV is a hospital show? ...
House TV is a hospital show? what an odd name for one. Maybe that is fitting though, I don't really watch television. In all reality it is probably that most of the people that are attracted to set design in the first place happen to be modern furniture whores.

House
the show is just called "House," named after the main character, and yes, it is mostly set in a hospital. The furniture I have mentioned are in House's office and a few other offices....
