I'm considering buying a hopsack-upholstered Eames Aluminium Group chair. I'm curious to know the composition of the hopsack fabric. Is is wool? Does it contain any synthetic fibres? Is it subject to pilling?

Any knowledge/experience welcomed.

suspect it will have some man-made fibres, for durability.

Currently, Herman Miller's entire line of chair fabric is man-made.

I don't see hopsack offered as an option on the Herman Miller site, unless they gave it a name other than hopsack.
I see vintage chairs done in Girard hopsack, which I believe is all wool or mostly wool (some nylon, if anything). I've never seen vintage wool hopsack with pills. I don't *think* that nylon pills, either. What does pill is acrylic---also, olefin, which is probably just a trade name for a particular kind of acrylic. But I doubt that Herman Miller puts olefin fabric on their chairs. I think it's kind of a low-end fabric.
