I recently saw what looked like a Holmegaard "Selandia" glass bowl in Purple(aubergine) glass. Is this a known colour used by Holmegaard for this piece or is it more than likely just a look-a-like piece.

I have seen some Holmegaard glass in this colour just not this particular piece.

There
are lots of look alikes for these bowls.
The Holmegaard ones will be clearly etched on the base.

it's Holmegaard..any marks to base?

I Reckon
it's probably Magnor..a Swedish company.
(though lots of companies, all over the world, made these dishes)
