Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I just picked up what I believe may be a Herman Miller table at my local thrift store. It's solidly built- the top is an oak veneer/wood. It's definitely not laminate. There is no label on the underside. The table will look beautiful once the top is refinished. I'd love to get opinions as to the authenticity of the table. Thanks so much!

Lisa

Hi
The table looks to be authentic. Perhaps the top is not original, since the underside also appears to be veneered which I have not seen before... Are there no labels at all?

There is no label unfortunate...
There is no label unfortunately. I did a little research and it looks like a table from the aluminum group series. I called the Herman Miller store and they told me that some vintage tables had wooden/veneer tops. The top seems original to the piece because the molding on the side of the table is similar in color to the table base- it just seems like it fits together/has been there always if that makes sense.

I have a larger vintage Oak veneer table top and it's labeled on the bottom side, which also happens to be veneered...

Yes, authentic Herman...
Yes, authentic Herman Miller. Has original sticker on it and the stamp with the table number (EA151 or whatever it is).
There is usually a stamp with the table part number on the underside as well. Sometimes it's very faded, but you can look for that.

Be very careful refinishing...
Be very careful refinishing the piece. The veneer is very thin.

Thanks- I probably won't attempt it myself. I'm very leery of refinishing veneer.
