Apologies if this question has been asked before in the past...
Would a table top measuring 80cm x 140cm be suitable for a segmented table base (two uprights).
The length between the feet is 128cm long and 70cm wide. So the base would go reasonably close to the edge of the top.
Does this sound ok? Does anyone have any tips or experience with choosing a top for one of these bases?

My daughter had a top made for that base but she went as big as possible. Your dimensions are smaller than the smallest I've seen online, which are more like 90 cm x 180 cm (rounding down a few---they are 36 x 72 in inches). Hive Modern has photos of this size from several angles if you want to compare.
You could always get the shorter connecting bar, though. That might make it more do-able.

Spanky's right. I'd want more overhang to minimize the likelihood of the legs becoming tripping hazards or chair leg obstructions. Depending on the ultimate location and application, a proportionally larger top would work better visually, too, IMO.

Thanks guys for your insight.
The small size of the room means I don't have much room to move with the dimensions... but, tktoo, I tend to agree with you about the visual impact.
If I increased the size of the top - slightly - to 90cm x 150cm, it would give an overhang of 10cm on ALL sides, all the way round.
Tktoo, do you think this would be better?
Please just someone just tell me what to do! Haha.

Get some cardboard and either cut or piece it together to proposed size and try it in situ.

Yes great suggestion Tktoo, I will do exactly that. Once I get the base 🙂
