This table has a pull out drawer with a Herman Miller George Nelson round medallion. The legs appear to be cut down, so I have no idea what height it was originally. I have searched 10 Herman Miller and George Nelson books to find out what it is, but have had no luck. Any identification information would be sincerely appreciated.
Black frame group?
It's possibly a former dressing table from the Black Frame Group (or more formally the "0200 Case Series")?
My 1961 HM Illustrated Price List describes the material as "oiled teak" and "ebonized frame" and dimensions (for the dressing table) as 38.5" x 20" (and 29" tall - but that wouldn't be relevant here if yours has been cut down). I don't know if that matches.
Info is very scare on these as it is, and the pictures aren't very helpful - sorry.
There is a(n apparently large...
There is a(n apparently largely mythical) collection called the "Cube Group" that I've read a couple of references to but can't seem to find any reliable comprehensive information about.
There are some rosewood topped tables attributed as such on the internet, the design is more spare on these tables, the top is inset, there is no apron.
Why no pictures of the pull out drawer/label?
The drawer pulls out from...
The drawer pulls out from the middle and they are white inside, almost looks like laminate, but the dividers ans sides of the drawer is wood. The medalian is inside the drawer and i can post a picture of it when i return to my office on Monday. This piece came out of a condo in Aspen 35 years ago and has been in my storage closet ever since.
With your help, I found it...
With your help, I found it in a Vitra Design Museum George Nelson book, page 263. It is his 1959 Black Frame Home Desk, No. 0263, designed by Ernest Farmer, under the direction of George Nelson for Herman Miller. Thanks to everyone for your assistance.
