Not sure how new the site is but it looks great its got some interesting materials. (I found it because of an article in today's NY Times) Free downloands of pdfs "Blueprint for Modern Living" and "ABC of Modern Living" and some nice closeups of some more ephemera....oh yeah and there's furniture to look at too. Below is text from the NY Timesarticle
"The furniture manufacturer Herman Miller is reviving a concept it first developed in 1948: a selective portfolio of furniture for modern living that it believes will stand the test of time, known as the Herman Miller Collection.
?That was the name that George Nelson, who was our director of design at the time, used,? said Ben Watson, the company?s executive creative director. ?It was a collection of objects made for both the home and office.?
The line of some 200 items includes familiar pieces like Eames chairs; classics reinterpreted with new materials; and out-of-production items from the company?s archive, like Nelson?s Thin Edge buffet, above (starting at $7,680). There are also contemporary pieces from the Italian manufacturers Magis and Mattiazzi, and works by new designers are to be added eventually.
The collection is being introduced with a pop-up store in SoHo, at 68 Wooster Street (Broome Street), from May 9 to July 1. Information: hermanmiller.com/collection.
