hi. i just found this chair. it had enough of a look going for it, that i couldn't resist buying it. there are no manufacturers marks, labels or stickers on it, but it is well put together. i'm wondering if anyone out there recognizes it? any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks
yes, it's quite comfortable. ...
yes, it's quite comfortable. it's also fairly heavy. i'm in Sacramento California. i've been picking vintage clothing and modern design stuff for 25 years. a friend turned me onto this site a year ago. i only come here with the pieces i know i'll never identify anywhere else.
why? i mean, it's a nice...
why? i mean, it's a nice chair, but it was purchased for the express purpose of flipping. times are very hard for me...financially, that is. if i can make a hundred bucks on a chair, it will help. as i stated above, i've been picking for about 25 years. i don't feel as if i made any secret of my motives. these days, not only am i trying to sell whatever i can find, i'm also having to sell many items out of my personal collections to make ends meet. ultimately, it's only a chair. a few months ago, i found a Corbusier living room set. two chairs and the loveseat, all manufactured by Cassina. now, i would have loved to keep that as a new living room set, it was surprisingly comfortable, but i needed the money. the way i look at it, attaching a higher motive to buying something for the purpose of keeping it vs. selling it, is a perception. i used to do the same. it's amazing how perceptions change as circumstances change. anyway, thank you all. this is a great forum and you guys definitely know your stuff...peace
I think it's because there...
I think it's because there have been a lot of people in the past who pop in here with a story about how they found a chair or table or whatever and they spin some yarn about where it came from and how they're so thrilled to own it and by the way, does anyone know who designed it? And denizens of the forum offer help and even do research and then bingo! Turns out to be a dealer who just wanted to know what it was before listing it on Ebay. That's why.
But you didn't put on an act like that. You just didn't mention right off the bat that you needed to know so that you could sell the thing. That's all.
.
Exactly! Its why a separate free for all ID page would be so much better, sometimes I feel like going through books for people others not.
I suppose the obvious thing would be to not look at any of them but lately the number of posts requesting an ID have again been almost dominant, discussion, jokes and tete a tete is so much more fun.
