Hello!
My wife & I recently purchased a Mid-Century Danish credenza and realized when we brought it home that we could not figure out how to remove the sliding doors to adjust the shelves. They do not come out the usual way by lifting slightly and popping out, and we simply cannot find a solution! I believe it is a Dyrlund of Denmark or very similar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the comments. Leif, no screws. HowardMoon, yes, this is encouraging to know. We are taking it to a friend/dealer today, so maybe she will have insight. I will update the post. It's impossible to believe the doors weren't designed to come out because the shelves cannot be adjusted otherwise.
I have discovered the secret, at least for my cabinet! The doors slide in the upper grooves on two nylon pegs about 1 1/2 inches in from each corner. These pegs are spring loaded. The trick is finding a tool that will slide into the groove and push the pegs down. Strangely, an old knitting needle worked nicely, and we popped the doors out fairly easily. I will add pictures when I get to a stopping point in our refinishing project.
This cabinet was purchased somewhere around 1979 or 1980. I would not be surprised that this door glide system was used fairly commonly across furniture builders.
The first photo shows the cabinet as it is being refinished, shelves removed. The second photo shows the manufacturer's mark on the back of the cabinet. The third photo shows the nylon glide peg, with the fourth photo showing the peg being depressed with the screwdriver. I would assume that folks building, assembling, delivering and regularly refinishing these pieces have some special tool for the express purpose of popping the doors in and out.
So happy I found this post.
I've been trying to get the exact same style doors off my credenza for 3 days. I thought it was just push up the door and tilt out bottom. I used an Allen key to push the pegs down - knitting needle snapped on me. They came out with ease after reading this. Thank you!
I'm stripping mine back to its original
