Recently bought a 670/671, unfortunatly it is in poor condition and has stupidly been retrimmed some years ago with awful beeding around it's edge. This has actually damaged around the edge of the ottoman as shown in pics.

I'm basically looking for ideas on polishing and repairing the verneer, measurements of foam for the ottoman, which shade of black leather etc so I can have it restored into an acceptable condition.

Lastly can anyone tell me it's approx date? I can't find any info on the Hille label.

Thanks

some people
Some people should not be allowed to own nice furniture if thats what they're going to do to it!
I would suggest a fine furniture restoration specialist. Someone who is able to fill in all the holes in the wood, and match the filler to the color of the veneer.
The larger problem may be the cushions. Eames 670 cushions arent contstructed like standard upholstery cushions. There is a hard plastic inner shell, on which foam is applied. The leather is tufted to the top of the cushion with buttons, then secured around the open edges with a zipper.
Sometimes cushion sets appear on Ebay. You may also try calling Herman Miller directly - or speak to Graham Mancha (UK) or Alfie at HumeModern (US) As always with a chair of this stature - restoring as much of the original is recommended.

Thanks for your reply, tell...
Thanks for your reply, tell me about it, why can't people leave things alone?!
I realised that about the cushions - Will have a look and see if I can find anything. Seems a shame not to repair it as I feel people should be keeping these for others to enjoy in the future.

Just dont know
Some people just dont know. If you are in the UK I highly recommend Graham Mancha. He has all the parts available if you want DIY - and he also does restoration. And think about the bright side: even if its a bit worn, you've still got yourself a 670 😀

Very true, have to be after...
Very true, have to be after one for ages now. I have spoken to Graham and will order the shock mounts from him. However he thinks the retrim would be too expensive so I shall have to look elsewhere.
Have emailed Hume for some advice so thank you for the link! Fingers crossed, anymore info would be great!
