Need help with lighting.
Very contemporary apartment with lots of light and odd angles. Rather small dining room but with numerous, long, rectangular nearly floor-ceiling windows. The room opens into our small entryway. Clean, Scandinavian modern/minimalist look, white walls, light oak floors. We have a Wegner table (CH327 dark walnut stain with a black extension leaf) and Wishbone chairs (white ash).
So, lighting. We need a pendant. The tricky part is, the room is small -- just holds the table and chairs -- and a very strange shape that resembles an open rhombus. It opens into our entryway on one side and also leads into a long white hallway. So, the light would partially illuminate these other areas.
We've been leaning toward the PH5 pendant but wonder whether it is meant to hang too low over a table in order to make sense for such a strangely shaped, multipurpose area. Does the PH5 work well hung a bit higher, or does that lead to too much glare from underneath?
Other thought was the "Le Klint" pendant.
Considered Moooi Random Light but think it's too much for the space. Finally, we've decided against the Nelson pendants thinking that these are too run-of-the-mill for the space (even though we favor something very simple).
Any other ideas for under $1K?
I'm no expert, but it seems...
I'm no expert, but it seems you would want a light with an all over translucent shade ... so that it would light the other areas. The Nelson, albeit off your list, would seem to do this well. I will try and thinking of others...
I like this one below. It's well within your budget.

inexpensive - but different
winging_it,
For low cost and something that "everyone and their brother" does not have how about the Ingo Maurer Willy Dilly or the Canned Light. Let the people who are stepping up from Rooms To Go shop at Ikea. A person always gets exactly what they pay for in quality.
