( I thought they were Z chairs )
Can anyone help me identify these chairs? I thought they were Z chairs when I spotted them on a front porch in an older section of town where I live, but I don't think they are now, there are no manufacture marks on them. They are made of teak. I ended up bartering for them for a few hours of carpentry work...

Thanks,

Brent

What about copyrights?
Was there a modernist movement going on where there wasn't a concern for ripping off a designers ideas?

Talked to the guy I got these from and he said he got them from his Grandmother who got them from a friend who perhaps got them while living in Japan... Japanese/Danish?

Poul Jensen
Although commonly attributed to Ib Kofoed-Larsen, this is actually a Poul Jensen design.
The lounge chair can be seen with designer credits in these selig catalog scans:

a previous thread...
The OP seems to have an odd copy.
Strange copies always remind me of CraftAssociates but
i know that is not so.

oh
Thanks for the link Gustaf.
You just helped me identify a couple of my in-laws chairs.
I only saw the original receipts from the furniture store in
Takoma WA. (the chairs probably have the metal disks but i didn't
study them closely). They are of the age where they want to give things
away and i don't really want that to happen. We were just looking at
their pottery collection and my mother-in-law was telling stories last
holiday. Other relatives get jealous thinking we want to score treasures but
that is not the case at all...my house is full.
Love seeing old catalogs.

Altering a piece of furniture?
Does anyone out there have a problem with me altering these chairs slightly ? I'm thinking of smoothing down the screw covers because I think they break up the lines of the chairs. I am a woodworker and a guitar builder so I possess the skills required. The chairs are teak with a teak oil finish so blending the work will be no problem.

I once lopped the backrest of a Plycraft loung in order to make it closer to the Eames measurments. Why not?
