SDR-
All wall systems are pretty straight forward, just like the old Knape metal system-- vertical rails get screwed securely onto the wall, holes or slots in the rails correspond to arms or pins that bear shelves or cabinets. The multiple holes or slots obviously allow the user to tailor the configuration to their specific needs.
I've never encountered a cabinet piece on a wall system that's intended to be affixed to the wall itself-- it would defeat the whole purpose of the rails. Like Atlas, the rails support everything. If they're securely mounted & properly positioned, the rest all follows.

I've put up a few
different types of wall systems.
Get the first rail upright with a level, make sure the rails are all the same way up (for hole spacing) and then using a shelf as a measure go across the wall fastening the uprights.
The only system I know of whereby the inidividual units fix to the wall is the British Beaver & Tapley system, and these come with a built in spirit level.

SDR,
Multiple holes seems overkill but necessary. The Cado cabinets have three
angled pegs on each back top corner and shelf brackets have 2 or 3 each.
I adjusted and tweaked one of my units numerous times...desk height,
added another shelf, etc.
Laying out full scale on the floor is way too much trouble, for me anyway.
I can see how it may help someone visualize a possible layout and measure
the unit full scale.
This was a few hours after install before tweaking...
Old pic from last spring.
