Not to worry
Globes like that have been made for over 100 years (Wright used them in his early work -- see Robie house, etc). Large lighting companies make replacement globes (see link below). Your fixture may require rimless globes; these should also be available. See a local lamp store for starters. . .

Re:Lightolier globes
I picked up a lightolier lamp which uses 12 globes. The lamp only needs 3 globes to be complete. I have searched for months and have not been able to locate the rimless globes. I have checked with many lighting supply shops and have not had any success.
You might have better luck finding another vintage lightolier lamp which has the same globes and using it for parts.
If I find a source for the globes, I will post the info. Let me know if you have any luck.
If I get fed up trying to locate the globes, I can offer you the 9 globes I already have.
B.T.W., what size globes do you need, are they rimless?
Best of luck with your project!
Thanks SDR and PODBOY
I DO believe the globes are rimless. I can not be sure however,as they are all missing. I am going to see if I can buy some common, flanged globes that are close in diameter and then have the flanges ground off. I was told by a modernist vendor (who just sold the same fixture) that the rimless globes have a hole which is exactly two and one quarter inches across and fit onto the "trumpet bells" via metal clips. I have come up empty handed at every turn, so I think that this may be my only hope to complete the fixture.
In the
late 70's I was involved with some of these pieces; the globes were fitted by means of spring steel "tongues" hidden behind the "dish" at the top of each globe. One slid and pulled the globe to release it. Are these like that ?
I applaud your determination; I hope that the ground-off flanges will result in holes not too large to use. . .
I'll post if I find anything.
Globes
I do produce globe lamps. And I go from factory to factory finding or making produce some special globe/or other glass piece.
I?m from Argentina so I don?t know if it could help.
Which is exacty the hole size?
be careful, because there are LOTS of kinds and sizes.
In cms they are
6x10
8x12
8x15
10x18
12x25
15x30
15x35
15x40
20x40
It`s seems to be a 6x10 or an 8x15
Here for instance an 8x15 (Hole 8cms globe 15cm) rimless cost about $19 (about u$s 6.33)
Tell me If I could help in anything.
Hi Good lines
Do you mean you want me to send you the globes? mmm, I don,t know...
Here in Argentina, after devaluation everything it could seem to be cheap to you, and these gloves are not expensive at all.
But we have to see how you could get them,
Dhl/fedex, could be expensive as far as I know for a pair of gloves....
It,s easy to see which glove do you need, you have to measure the hole of the Lightolier fixture, if it is 2 1/4" ( a bit bigger indeed), it needs a 2 1/4" hole globe.
A 2 1/4" means a 4" diameter globe. It seem to be OK?
The globes comes "bright - brillant", or could be sanded (no-bright).
In the picture, they seem to be "bright".
Sanded globes gives a more contemporary look, I think, but now
"the bright it,s coming back" with vintage trend are more IN, they gives a look more vintage/retro, and may be fits better in your fixture.
On the other hand the sanded could make "invisible" some small defects on the gloves
(bright marks more the defects, no bright almost no defects)
That,s not allways, That,s when the mold/cast have a defect.
Well, For more details better the mail.
SPUTNIK Light Fixture
Hello,
Do you still have your light fixture?? I have the same fixture with all the globes. I just broke one of the arms...d'oh! If you never found globes, would you be interested in letting yours go? I love mine and am quite bummed - I'm handy and this may be impossible to fix.
Let me know. Thanks!!!
