I have a sideboard with a brass trim but its not solid brass its that painted on kind that rubs off easily. The brass got damaged recently and there are a few small patches that are now rubbed back to chrome....is there any product anyone knows of that can either be painted on or sprayed / misted on ?

Possibly related problem
Recently found a charmingly el cheapo MCM desk lamp with a bullet-shaped, spun-aluminum shade. "Brass-tone" finish was in lovely condition, except for a tiny mark that looked like felt-tip pen. Applied my universal felt-tip-pen-mark remover (rubbing alcohol) and discovered -- horrors! -- what I'd have thought was some kind of durable anodized color was instead a yellowish, alcohol-soluble varnish-like coating. Now looking at a big, unsightly silver streak in an obvious position.
Feh.
Any remedies, to suggest, anyone, short of stripping the whole thing?
Oh, in any case, good luck, Killian. I feel your pain.

Thats the same finish that is on the Aarnio 'brass' chairs I've posted before, I'll email the manufacturere here and see if the can remember what they used.
One of those places that decorates hot rod cars might have an idea too, Matty?
