I've just bought this large Platner ottoman. The sellers says its real, but I can't get the dimensions to fit. My ottoman is circa 26,8 inches wide and 16,5 inches high, but the ones on 1stdibs are around 14 - 16 inches high and 24 - 25 inches wide. What is your opinion, should I ask to get my money back?

Do fake Platner pieces even exist..seems to be a very difficult thing to make for the faker ?

what dimensions are you...
what dimensions are you working off ? maybe measure the base and ask another dealer to measure the base of theirs my guess is that the bottom is more likely to be uniform than the upholstered part.

Platner would be proud. It's genuine.

I've never seen Platner...
I've never seen Platner fakes, but I HAVE seen real Platner bases married to non-original tops: stools made into side tables and vice-versa, a dining-table top on a coffee-table base, etc.
Is it possible that your ottoman was built from a table base? Or that the ones on 1stdibs were? I have no idea what the dimensions of the ottoman should be, but current-production coffee tables are about 15" high, with a base diameter of 18.5".

Not really knockoffs
But there are some poor "Platner-inspired" pieces out there.

Probably real
I'd bet it's real as I've never seen the Platner ottoman knocked off before. But then I was not aware that any of the Platner designs were being copied until I was made aware of this Canadian company selling bad knock-offs:

Just measured mine
25" wide, 15.5" high. I'm assuming your cushion probably had extra batting or foam added to plump it up, as they tend to pancake over time.

`
NOTE: Small animals tend to cause Platner chairs to pancake.
