I need to create a few of these lights for a project but I don't know where to go to buy the sockets with the long cords attached to them. Is there a place that sells these individual pieces or is this something I can actually do on my own where I have to buy separate parts and put them together? Thanks!

Yes, you will
have to assemble the cords to the sockets. It's quite easy. I might start at Victor Lighting in SF -- a retailer with a long history in lighting fixtures and supplies. Take them a copy of that photo, to aid in describing what you're looking for. The central canopy which accepts all those cords will be an unusual item; it will be interesting to see what they suggest.

The central canopy
could be made from an automotive distributor cap. This one's for an 8-cylinder engine, but if you needed more bulbs you could use a V12 cap from something like an old Jag.

I think you would be hard pressed to recreate for the $40 they are asking.

Just search
"Edison chandelier" on eBay.

Thanks everyone for your...
Thanks everyone for your input! Very helpful!
I actually got the photo from that very same eBay listing!
I don't want to buy it from them because I need to make about 6 of these lights total, not one, and also the ceiling I'm working with is very high, as in loft high, so I need extra long cords!
I will go to Victor lighting and see what they say.
Thanks all for your help!
